Jazztel chairman says merger with Orange "impossible"

The chairman of Spanish operator Jazztel has ruled out a possible merger with Orange Spain, telling reporters that he considers such a deal "impossible" because Orange's Spanish subsidiary is not listed in the country and the value of its business cannot be assessed. Leopoldo Fernandez Pujals, who is also Jazztel's top shareholder with a 15 percent stake, said the company is fully focused on its five-year business plan and is having to put on "earmuffs" to keep out the ongoing rumors about Orange's plans to acquire Jazztel.
