Jumia launches in Uganda

West African online shopping company Jumia has launched operations in Uganda and plans to sell fashion, electronics, home appliances, mobile devices and beauty products there. Jumia is part of Africa Internet Holding (AIH) and plans to use a cash-on-delivery (COD) payment method along with a returns policy. Jumia has operations in Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, Kenya and Egypt. Jumia was founded in 2012 and claims to be the largest e-commerce company in Africa with over 100,000 unique visitors per day.
