Kapsch CarrierCom to upgrade mobile network, services for Belgium's Infrabel

Kapsch CarrierCom has won a contract from Belgian railway infrastructure manager Infrabel. Under the deal, Kapsch will be responsible for the management of the Belgian railway infrastructure and of all traffic on the Belgian railway network. Specifically, Kapsch will be responsible for the Global System for Mobile Communications-Railways (GSM-R) and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Core Network migration from 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) R99 to Release 4 (R4) technology, including network design, supply, installation and maintenance of the equipment for twelve years.
