KDDI to acquire Nifty from Fujitsu - report

KDDI has entered the final phases of negotiations for the acquisition of Japanese ISP Nifty from its parent company Fujitsu, Nikkei reports. Fujitsu launched an initial bidding round for the household internet operations of its subsidiary Nifty in mid-October. Six or seven companies were reportedly interested in bidding for Nifty, including KDDI, leasing company Orix and trading houses Itochu and Marubeni. Fujitsu is expected to earn around JPY 20 billion (approximately USD 193 million) from the sale of Nifty.
