Kenya Competition Authority wants new laws on telecoms infrastructure sharing

Thursday 15 April 2021 | 10:47 CET | News
The Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) has asked Parliament to enact laws that will force telecommunications firms to share their infrastructure on a commercial basis, the Business Daily reported. CAK Director-General Francis Wang'ombe Kariuki told a parliamentary committee that Safaricom is not abusing its dominance and that its market share of mobile subscriptions has dropped in the past decade. He said that increasing efficiencies in infrastructure sharing has the potential to boost competition further and increase options for consumers.
