Kenyan CA extends 2 telco licences despite missed deadlines

Tuesday 4 July 2017 | 11:29 CET | News
The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) will not revoke the licences of Lycamobile and Homeland Media, even though the deadlines for them to begin operations have long expired, reports Business Daily. The two firms were granted mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) licences in November 2015 and February 2016 respectively, with the stipulation that they should begin operating within a year. The CA says that it is giving them a longer grace period to negotiate interconnection agreements with the other operators.
