Kenyan govt rethinks fibre optic layout after outages

The Kenyan government is proposing to re-lay the fibre optic network as a ring rather than as a straight line, in order to reduce incidences of outage when there is a cable cut, The Star reported online. Information Permanent Secretary Bitange Ndemo said the government is consulting with experts, planners and the networks to see if the fibre installation can be re-done using a ring instead of the straight line that is in use.
