Korea to launch 700MHz 5G spectrum tender in H2 - report

The Korea government plans to auction 700MHz spectrum to the country's three largest mobile operators and terrestrial broadcasters, The Korea Times reports. According to unnamed officials from the country's telecoms regulator The Korea Communications Commission (KCC), auction details would be finalized in the first half of 2015. The auction is expected to launch in the second half of this year. "The KCC has to prepare an exit strategy as tension is unexpectedly high between terrestrial broadcasters and mobile carriers over the use of the 700MHz frequency band", said KCC chairman Choi
