KPN appeals against regulatory clearance of Ziggo-UPC merger

KPN has filed an appeal against the European Commission's approval of the takeover of cable operator Ziggo by Liberty Global. The appeal was disclosed in a recent fixed income report from Ziggo. The takeover created a near-national competitor to KPN, after Ziggo was merged with Liberty's local subsidiary UPC Netherlands. KPN said it felt that the EC did not take into account enough the cable group's position on the content market.
