KPN believes Ziggo tie-up will lead to market deregulation

Approval of the sale of Ziggo should lead to the deregulation of the broadband market, KPN said. The company made the statement after hearing the European Commission gave its green light for the acquisition of Ziggo by Liberty Global. For the sale to go through, Liberty Global had to commit to the sale of Fiml1. KPN considers this a light condition. KPN is regulated by the ACM, while Ziggo is not regulated. Ziggo does not need to provide access to its network, despite holding a share on the Dutch broadband market of 44 percent. With the new tie-up, the Dutch market no longer contains only one
