KPN CEO not ruling out new takeover attempts

KPN CEO Eelco Blok is not ruling out further attempts to acquire the Dutch operator, after America Movil's failed bid. The CEO told Dutch paper Het Financieele Dagblad that the company is working hard at the moment to strengthen its balance sheet, so in the event of another takeover attempt, the group will have a stronger negotiating position. The planned sale of German unit E-Plus to Telefonica is expected to contribute to a stronger financial position, Blok said. It could also put KPN in a position to consider acquisitions itself.
