KPN develops IPTV smart card

KPN is developing with CAM producer Smit its own smart card for use in CAM modules. This means it could offer its IPTV service without a set-top box. Smit director Bingyyu Xiang told Broadband TV News at an IPTV seminar in The Hague that a prototype of the card should be ready in 2015, based on the CI Plus 1.4 standard. At the recent IBC in September, Smit showed with Verimatrix a demonstration of the service.
