KPN grows mobile base, revenues still under pressure

KPN's Consumer Mobile division reported third-quarter revenues down 5.6 percent to EUR 354 million. Service revenues fell 6.9 percent due to price pressure and lower out-of-bundle revenues. EBITDA fell 53 percent to EUR 47 million, in part due to costs for putting an end to its handset leasing scheme, as well as customer acquisition costs. Operating costs were up 12 percent. The revenue split shows retail down 4.9 percent and wholesale falling 14 percent. Within retail, service revenue declined 7.7 percent, while handsets and other revenue was up 57 percent.
