KPN investigates own PKI certificates

KPN Corporate (Getronics) has stopped issuing PKI certificates after the Diginotar example revealed the need for a deeper look into the security systems used for the certification. An investigation made after the affair broke out showed that the server of the website where companies came to for information over certificates was compromised. Traces were discovered indicating possible abuse that might have taken place four years ago. The traces indicate that third parties might have prepped the servers for a DDoS attack on other servers.
