KPN, Telefonica consider merger in Germany - report

KPN and Telefonica are considering ways to merge their German units to create the largest mobile operator based on customer numbers, according to two people with knowledge of the matter cited by Bloomberg. The companies are considering selling a stake in a German entity as part of an initial public offering, one of the people said. Earlier this week, Telefonica announced plans to bring Telefonica Germany to the stock exchange, while KPN announced on 1 June that is looking into the strategic options for its German subsidiary E-Plus, as part of efforts to fend off an unsolicited EUR 2.6 billion
