KPN to distribute Base proceeds to shareholders

KPN confirmed it will pay out part of the proceeds of selling its Belgian unit Base as dividends. Following European Commission clearance for the sale to Telenet, KPN will receive EUR 1.325 billion for Base. After compensating for the loss of EBITDA from Base, KPN considers EUR 900 million of the proceeds as excess cash. KPN will distribute approximately 70 percent of this amount to its shareholders in the form of a capital repayment. This special dividend also takes account of the proceeds from selling shares in Telefonica Deutschland last November. The total distribution of EUR 1.2 billion
