KPN to launch LTE advanced in 6-7 years

Wednesday 16 January 2013 | 11:18 CET | News
KPN plans to deploy LTE Advanced, a faster version of 4G, within six or seven years. Eric Kuisch, the director of KPN's technical division Netco, made the statement to Tweakers. LTE offers advanced theoretical speeds up to 100 Mbps. The 4G network KPN plans to start rolling out in early February provides download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, with average speeds of about 20 Mbps. Upload speeds with 4G will average around 10 Mbps. Ericsson, KPN's network equipment supplier, is currently testing LTE Advanced. The six to seven years stated by Kuisch could be shorter if the tests are successful.
