KPN, Vodafone to expand role in public transport m-payments

Wednesday 17 August 2016 | 11:00 CET | News
Dutch public transport companies are preparing a gradual roll-out of mobile payments later this year, reports the paper Trouw. Using KPN and Vodafone SIM cards, around 10,000 people will be able to load their public transport (OV) chip card on their smartphones to pay for travel. The test is limited to those travelling at full price, as discount cards are not yet supported. The partners earlier conducted a smaller scale test with around 100 customers each from Vodafone and KPN.
