Kroes again calls for updated copyright laws

Eurocommissioner Neelie Kroes said it was high time to refresh copyright legislation, in place since 2001. During the "Intellectual property and innovation" conference in Lisbon, Kroes said that the current legislation was outdated and not flexible enough to offer support in this rapidly changing digital age. The creative sector strongly needs new copyright rules, which could also help stimulate economic recovery and scientific research.
