Kroes calls for industry action on net neutrality

Neelie Kroes, vice president of the European Commission for the Digital Agenda, said she is still open to industry initiatives for resolving 'net neutrality' issues. In a speech in Brussels, Kroes said she "regrets very much" the Netherlands' unilateral move to pass legislation restricting service providers from blocking certain types of data traffic. "We must act on the basis of facts, not passion; acting quickly and without reflection can be counterproductive," she said, noting quick action could lead to higher prices for consumers or smother innovation.
