
The Wireless division revenue slightly increased by 0.2 percent year-on-year to KRW 1.73 trillion. Service revenue rose 0.7 percent year-on-year, boosted by the growing 5G subscriber base. The net number of subscribers rose by 802,000 in the quarter to 21.92 million. The operator added 1.4 million net 5G customers in the period, ending 2019 with a 5G penetration rate of 10 percent of handset subscribers. KT reached 1.41 million 5G subscribers at 3 December 2019, up from 1 million in September.
Wireline revenues fell 0.5 percent year-on-year to KRW 1.17 trillion. Fourth-quarter telephony revenue was down 8.4 percent year-on-year on subscriber and usage drop, while broadband revenue was slightly up by 0.5 percent, on the continued net additions and increase in GiGA subscribers. The number of broadband subscribers increased to 8.96 million at 31 December 2019, from 8.90 million in September 2019 and 8.72 million at end-2018.
