South Korean operator KT has teamed up with Nokia to develop technology for the commercial use of a 5G mobile network, Yonhap news agency reports. KT chief executive Hwang Chang-kyu and Nokia president and CEO Rajeev Suri held a meeting in Seoul to discuss the expansion of the two company’s cooperation to speed up the development of the 5G technology.

Back in 2015, KT and Nokia agreed to collaborate on potential 5G areas, including 5G standardization and 5G trials during the PyeongChang Olympics in 2018. On 25 August, Suri agreed to expand the cooperation with KT beyond the technology of 5G service to include core network technology so that the two companies can develop the 5G platform, KT said.
