KT starts testing standalone 5G on commercial network

South Korean operator KT has started testing standalone 5G on its commercial network. Domestic mobile operators initially planned to commercially launch standalone 5G services in 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic deployed their rollout plans, Yonhap news agency reports. KT says its employees will take part in the standalone 5G tests at the company's major offices and in urban areas. These tests mark the final phase before the standalone version's commercial rollout, KT added.
