KT to commercially launch 5G service by 2019

South Korean operator KT plans to commercialize its 5G services by 2019, one year before its initial schedule. The decision follows KT's recently released 5G technical specifications, after reaching a consensus with Nokia, Samsung Electronics, Intel and Qualcomm, The Korea Times reports. "We have been on an upward track to push for setting a global standard for the upcoming 5G era after we established the 5G-SIG in November last year", said Seo Chang-seok, VP of KT's network strategy division.
