Lagardere prepared to consider Canal Plus buyout - CEO

Lagardere CEO Arnaud Lagardere told Le Monde that his company is prepared to consider buying the 80 percent of French pay TV group Canal Plus that it does not currently own from Vivendi and to list it on the stock market at favourable conditions. Lagardere, which currently owns 20 percent of Canal Plus, sued Vivendi in February to force the company to return a EUR 1.6 million cash surplus payment to the TV subsidiary. Lagardere said he is asking Vivendi to manage Canal Plus France in its social interest and that the unit "deserves an ambitious growth plan". His statements come the day before Lagardere's AGM.
