Lascom selects Gilat for Japanese disaster response platform

Japanese government agency Local Authorities Satellite Communication (LASCOM) has selected Gilat Satellite Networks for a multi-million dollar project for the next generation disaster response platform to Japan's 47 prefectures. Gilat and JSAT will provide essential communication services to the public in the case of disaster. Gilat's SkyEdge II-c platform and its modems were selected after an evaluation, redundant hubs will be deployed in two different locations, and thousands of VSATs deployed throughout Japan.
