Last week in telecoms: earnings and 5G weighing in

The stock market was trending down in week 43, leading to a loss for the EuroStoxx 50 index of 2.4 percent. The Telecompaper stock index for the European telecoms market closed the week with a loss of 3.6 percent. Performances varied between +37 percent for Forthnet (Greece) and -31 percent for Tiscali (Italy). Excluding these microcaps, the performance range was much smaller: from +6.2 percent for Turkcell to -17 percent for Intelsat. The latter is still, by far, this year's absolute winner. Its year-to-date gain is +745 percent, a strong pullback from the previous week's record of 912
