LatAm countries allocate less than 30% of ITU-recommended spectrum - study

Monday 10 September 2018 | 10:33 CET | News
Latin American countries have assigned the equivalent of just 27.1 percent of the amount of spectrum for mobile services recommended by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for 2020, according to a report from industry association 5G Americas. At the end of August, the region's markets had assigned an average of 363.8 MHz per country of spectrum via auctions and reallocations, barely 27.1 percent of the expected minimum of 1,340 MHz and just 18.5 percent of the maximum of 1,960 MHz, said the report.
