Before joining Global Crossing, Legere served as CEO of Asia Global Crossing, a Microsoft, Softbank and Global Crossing joint venture. Legere has also served as Senior Vice President of Dell Computer where he was the President of the company's operations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific region. Prior to Dell, Legere worked for fifteen years with AT&T where he held a number of senior positions including President of AT&T Asia, President of AT&T Solutions Outsourcing and head of global corporate strategy and business development. Legere began his career at New England Telephone in 1980.
Legere replaces interim CEO Jim Alling, who will return to his position as COO. Ailing took over in June when Philipp Humm resigned as CEO to join Vodafone.
