Lenovo quarterly net profit jumps 54%

Lenovo reported continued strong growth in the fiscal third quarter, increasing sales to USD 8.4 billion from USD 5.8 billion a year earlier. Operating profit for the three months to December rose to USD 193.5 million from USD 124.6 million a year ago, and net profit improved 54 percent to USD 153 million. Growth was led by its home market China, where PC shipments rose 28 percent, nearly double the market rate of 17 percent. Sales in China were up 30 percent to USD 3.5 billion or 42 percent of the total. In emerging markets sales improved 13 percent to USD 1.3 billion, while in mature
