Lenovo to start laptop production in India

Tuesday 4 October 2016 | 11:30 CET | News
China's Lenovo sees India as a potential centre for manufacturing laptops, ET reports, citing Dinesh Nair, director of consumer business at Lenovo India. The "Pondicherry plant, where we are already manufacturing desktops, has the capacity and flexibility to manufacture laptops (notebooks). The company will have to take a call when to do it", Nair said. According to Nair, manufacturing laptops in India would give Lenovo more flexibility. Currently, at least two months are necessary to ship products from China, and the entire range of laptops is now being shipped from China, Nair added.
