LG Display sues Samsung over OLED patent infringement
LG Display has filed a patent-infringement lawsuit against Samsung Electronics in a South Korea civil court over the use of advanced OLED displays in smartphones and tablet PCs. The lawsuit alleges infringements of patents on the design of OLED panels, driver circuitry and device design, the Wall Street Journal reports. LG said it would seek damages and a permanent injunction against the sale in South Korea of infringing devices, including Samsung's Galaxy S III, as well as the Galaxy Tab 7.7 tablet and Galaxy Note phablet. Samsung in July accused six LG Display employees, including two who used to work for Samsung, and five other people of stealing OLED technology. LG Display denied the claims.
