LG growing US mobile share partly thanks to prepay market

Thursday 11 August 2016 | 16:25 CET | News
LG had a 14 percent share of the US smartphone market in the second quarter of 2016, up from just 7 percent two years earlier, placing it third behind Apple and Samsung, according to Kantar Worldpanel. LG's market share is thanks in part to its leading position among US smartphone users with prepaid plans, the research company said. Motorola was the fourth biggest smartphone player in the three months to end-June with a 5 percent share, down from 10 percent in the first quarter of 2016.
