Liberty Global would consider O2 UK purchase - CEO

Liberty Global said it would consider buying the O2 UK mobile network from Telefonica if the sale of the O2 network to Hutchison is blocked by EC regulators , reports Reuters. Speaking as Liberty Global presented its Q1 results, CEO Mike Fries said that he considered all options when asked whether O2 UK would be a possible acquisition target if the opportunity presented itself. He said it 'would be strange' if Liberty did not 'evaluate that option'. However, he added that Liberty valued the flexibility that it had with its current MVNO business model.
