Liberty to invest USD 100 mln in Puerto Rico network repair

Thursday 21 December 2017 | 11:15 CET | News
Liberty Global is to invest a total of USD 100 million to rebuild and reinforce telecommunications infrastructure damaged by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, reports local daily El Vocero, citing the company's consumer services VP Waldo Hooker. "[The network] will be much stronger and more modern. We are rolling out the latest fibre optic cable, with more capacity, to prepare for the bandwidth that Puerto Rico will need in the next 10 or 20 years," said the executive, adding that much of the infrastructure will be built underground to protect it from hurricanes.
