Lycamobile drops roaming on national prepaid bundles

MVNO Lycamobile Netherlands has decided against offering 'roam like at home' (RLAH) on its monthly national bundles. The operator states on its website that it allows its clients to roam in the EU at the same prices as they pay in the Netherlands, which are 20 cents per MB (equivalent to EUR 204 per GB) and 15 cents per minute. Also incoming calls while roaming in the EU are capped at 200 minutes per month and then charged 1 cent per minute.

A Lycamobile spokesperson told Telecompaper that the Dutch operator is offering ‘roam like at home’ for customers using pay-as-you-go credit, but pre-paid bundles do not include EU roaming services. Lycamobile said it has communicated its approach to the regulator ACM. The ACM said previously that no operators in the Netherlands have applied for a derogation from the EU roaming rules. However, it seems nothing precludes operators from changing their terms and conditions to not include roaming service on certain plans.
