M-ticketing venture Wizway to soft launch SmartNavigo on Android smartphones in Ile-de-France

French transport users in the Ile-de-France region will soon be able to use the services offered by the Navigo smartcard ticketing system on their Android smartphones, reports Les Echos. Orange, Gemalto, railway operator SNCF and Paris transit authority RATP joined forces at the end of 2015 to create the Wizway venture, which is now ready to soft-launch the SmartNavigo system for users with compatible devices. Thousands of customers will be able to use the service from October, with a wider launch scheduled for summer 2019.
