Mainland China smartphones market drops 8% to 83 million units in Q3

The smartphone market in Mainland China dropped 8 percent sequentially and 15 percent annually, to 83 million units in the third quarter of 2020, according to a report from Canalys. The report also shows that Huawei, while still the leader, saw its volume decrease year-on-year in China for the first time since the first quarter of 2014, shipping only 34.2 million units in the third quarter of 2020. Its market share plunged to 41.2 percent, from 44.3 percent in the second quarter of 2020, and 42.5 percent in the third quarter of 2019.
