Mapping startup Mapbox raises USD 164 mln in series C funding

Mapbox, a mapping and location platform for developers, has raised USD 164 million in a series C round of funding led by SoftBank's Vision Fund, with participation from existing investors such as Foundry Group, DFJ Growth, DBL Partners and Thrive Capital. Mapbox currently has more than 900,000 registered developers, providing maps, location search and direction services that are specific to mobile, AR/VR and web applications. Developers use Mapbox software development kits (SDKs) across mobile devices, connected cars and broader IoT projects.
