Maroc Telecom FY revenues up 1.3% in Morocco

Maroc Telecom generated revenues of MAD 21.69 billion in Morocco in 2019, up 1.3 percent thanks to a 2.2 percent increase in revenues from mobile operations, still sustained by data demand. EBITDA amounted to MAD 12.29 billion, up 7.3 percent thanks to improvement in the gross margin and a reduction in operational costs. The EBITDA margin was unchanged at 56.7 percent.

The adjusted earnings from operations (EBITA) rose to MAD 8.29 billion from MAD 7.62 billion 2018 thanks to the increase in EBITDA.

The mobile customer base totaled 20.1 million at year-end, up 5.2 percent year-on-year thanks to growth in both postpaid and prepaid of 15.5 percent and 4.0 percent respectively. The fixed line customer base rose 3.5 percent over the year to 1,88 million, and the broadband customer base increased by 6.1 percent to 1.6 million subscribers. Fixed line and internet activities in Morocco generated revenues of MAD 9.26 billion, up 0.2 percent.

In 2020, Maroc Telecom said it sees continued strong demand for mobile data services, while VoIP services may impact incoming revenues and competitive pressure is expected in the mobile market. The company will continue to expand its FTTH network this year.
