Masmovil sells 940,000 FTTH units to Macquarie for EUR 218.5 mln
Spanish telecommunications provider Masmovil, the country’s fourth largest network operator, has announced the sale of around 940,000 of its FTTH premises to infrastructure fund Macquarie Capital for a total of EUR 218.5 million. Masmovil first announced the deal in May, confirming it would retain total ownership of the existing customer base on the assets sold. At the same time it reached a new agreement with Orange Spain to acquire an Indefeasible Right of Use of 1 million premises during 35 years for a total of EUR 70 million.

Masmovil said the combination of the Macquaire sale and the acquisition of 1 million premises from Orange will have no material impact on its own FTTH footprint, client base or EBITDA, but would have a positive impact of EUR 134 million on its consolidated total equity. The operator’s total FTTH footprint stood at 19.8 million at the end of June, including 7.6 million of its own accesses, up 69 percent year on year, with active fixed broadband customers up 65 percent to 1.2 million.
