
Masmovil ended the quarter with 6.46 million customers, up 34 percent year on year, having increased its total base by around 290,000 in the third quarter, down compared to the record 500,000 adds in the April to June period. However, the company was keen to stress that it passed the milestone of 6 million mobile customers in the quarter, up 28,000 from 30 June, after adding 1.3 million at a rate of over 100,000 a month since Q3 2017 thanks to its use of different brands (Masmovil, Yoigo, Pepephone and Llamaya) to target different market segments.
The group also attracted a further 100,000 new fixed broadband lines for the fourth consecutive quarter to reach a total of 857,000 broadband customers at the end of September. Earlier this year it overtook Euskaltel to become the country’s fourth largest operator in the fixed as well as the mobile segment.
Masmovil said its FTTH footprint grew to 14.4 million at the end of Q3, including 4.8 million of its own accesses and 9.7 million indirect accesses thanks to wholesale agreements with Orange and Telefonica, with around 1 million more to be added by year-end following a recent agreement with Vodafone.
Looking ahead, the company increased its full-year service revenues growth to a 17 percent year-on-year rise compared to its previous guidance of 10 percent, while it predicted a combined net increase in fixed broadband and mobile post-paid lines of 1.25 million compared to the previous guidance of 800,000 lines.
