Masmovil sets up financial services JV with BNP Paribas subsidiary

Spanish operator Masmovil has announced an agreement with Cetelem Espana, a subsidiary of France's BNP Paribas, to create a financial services joint venture. In a short statement, the partners said the new entity will provide financial credit and other banking services to Masmovil customers through mobile devices and will be 51 percent owned by the operator and 49 percent by Cetelem. The companies have also filed for authorisation with the Bank of Spain to create a financial establishment credit entity and electronic money entity.
