MATSUSHITA DEVELOPS OPTICAL STORAGE METHOD
Matsushita Electric Industrial has developed an optical data storage technique which can store a 2-hr movie in 0.2 sq cm. The technique uses an Atomic Force Microscope sensor which can lead to a storage density 'several thousand times' that of standard optical disks. The technique can read and write 10 nanomt bits, and also has minimal power consumption. Technical details were unavailable.
