Mediapro pulls out of Copa del Rey rights bid

Wednesday 23 October 2019 | 10:57 CET | News
Spanish broadcaster and sports rights broker Mediapro has pulled out of the bidding process for rights to air the domestic cup competition Copa del Rey, paving the way for Telefonica or Mediaset to snap them up. In a strongly-worded statement, Mediapro accused the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) of cancelling the first round of bids for rights to air the competition in Spain and the rest of the world over the next three seasons because it hadn't received the EUR 45 million it wanted.
