Mediaset set to cut board to stem Vivendi influence - report

Shareholders in Italian commercial broadcaster Mediaset are expected to approve a proposal to cut the maximum number of board seats to 15 from 21 in a bid to stem the influence of French media giant Vivendi, reports Reuters. Approval for governance changes would give Mediaset's board greater stability, but would leave minority shareholders, including Vivendi, with only two or three seats, said the report. According to two unnamed sources, Vivendi is set to be absent at the meeting even though it is currently Mediaset's second largest investor with a 28.8 percent stake. The governance changes
