Mediatek to launch production of SoC for wearable devices

Taiwan-based fabless semiconductor company MediaTek expects to launch the commercial production of its SoC solution for wearable devices, dubbed Aster, this month, Digitimes reports, citing industry sources.  The company expects initial shipments to reach two million units a month. The Aster SoC solution adopts AndesCore CPU IP products from Andes Technology, and CMOS sensors and accelerometers from Pixart Imaging, according to the report. MediaTek aims to ship up to 10 million SoC solutions for wearable devices in this year.
