MediaTek's 4G, tablet solution shipments to exceed goals

Taiwan-based fabless semiconductor company MediaTek's shipments of 4G smartphone solutions and tablet solutions this year are expected to surpass its targets of 40 million and 15 million units, respectively, due to improved order visibility, Digitimes reports citing industry sources. Having already rolled out quad and 8-core 4G chips, MediaTek's 4G solution shipments will see a boost in the second half of this year when it expects to release 64-bit 4G chips, according to the sources.
