Megafon gets bands for testing 5G during next World Cup

Russian federal state frequencies commission SRFC has allocated frequency resources for testing 5G technology to mobile operator Megafon, reports Tdaily.ru. The Ministry of Communications and Mass Media has announced that the tests will take place during the FIFA World Cup in 2018.

The operator has received frequencies in the 3,400-3,800 MHz bands to test the fixed segment of the 5G network and frequencies in the 25,290-29,500 MHz bands to test the deployment of the mobile segment of the 5G network during the World Cup.

Megafon plans to test 5G in Moscow, St Petersburg, Kazan and Sochi.
