
Megafon Q4 revenues up 11%, profits decline

Russian operator Megafon reported fourth-quarter revenue up 11.0 percent year-on-year to RUR 65.46 billion, helped by the acquisition of a number of ISPs and over 40 percent growth in mobile internet sales. Wireless revenues in its main market Russia were up 9.1 percent to RUB 60.16 billion, and fixed-line revenues grew 40.5 percent to RUB 4.77 billion. OIBDA fell 3.4 percent to RUB 25.23 billion, and the margin dropped to 38.5 percent from 44.3 percent a year earlier, hurt by an expansion in retail sales and the fixed-line business. Net profit declined 23.6 percent to RUB 9.67 billion. Capital spending in Russia reached RUB 68.70 billion over the full year 2011, an increase of 5 percent. The mobile subscriber base in Russia was up 8.9 percent from 2010 and 3.2 percent from Q3 to a total 61.63 million, while ARPU of RUB 314 was stable year-on-year and down from RUB 321 in Q3.
